EKU MIO

Hey guys! At the meeting on Wed, Ian was elected committee head. He was our president last year, so he knows a thing or two about marketing. Please everyone begin working on marketing for the Fall Crawl. Remember that your job is important because without proper marketing, noone would know about the crawl, and then we wouldn't have a turn out, and no turn out means no money or recognition for us! And Oktoberfest is perfect if you want to promote a party!

Since we don't have any bands yet, we will need to hold back on creation of the posters. You can still be thinking of ideas for the design, however. You could also start placing teaser ads in newspapers, on the radio, myspace/facebook, or target vision. Just something to let people know we are coming!

Remember to look on line for Oktoberfest decor. The color scheme is black, red, and gold. We can also add some Barvarian blue in the mix as well.

Another great idea is to have the bartenders at the Players Club dress as the authentic beer garden girls (given approval by the girls and management). You can find costumes at bellabellagirl.com. Or perhaps just the MIO girls can dress up! We can make this thing as outlandish as we want! So get started, and I'll let you know where the other committees stand throughout the week so we can all stay on the same page.

I am so for the mio girls dressing up as the beer garden girls! or i was thinking maybe like the girls find just simple dresses that are either black gold or red...the colors of the festival ..or we are all assigned dress colors so that people will know who the members of mio are. any takers? also the guys could participate too! wear dress shirts in the colors of the festival.

I also had another idea to during the few days before or on the fest, all of us wear our mio shirts around eku. or even make new t-shirts that have to do with the festival to wear around to market the event! we could even (this is really reaching) oktobter/noctober fest shirts in all of the colors.. okay, well i was just brainstorming..what does everyone think?

I like the idea of us making T-shirts to wear around to hype Noktoberfest. I think we need to find some really awesome drawings or artwork to have as the visual logo for this event. Below are some of my favorite images from deviant art. Feel free to search around post ideas, or if Bryce or anybody would rather do the art themselves. that could be cool too. But anyway, some of these are pretty promising images that gave me some immediate ideas for marketing schemes. Some are more geared towards being "the image" while others are ideas for poster/flyer layouts. We could just photoshop any of these to have our info on it. The last one is my favorite, many possibilities. Haha. Piece!

these ideas sound cool. I think that we need to spread the word to businesses around the richmond area about our project (so that they can maybe help sponsor us).
I know that in order to get our marketing ideas under way the other committees need to pull their weight as well. what we can do now is start on a press release draft to give to businesses (the sooner the better).
I will try to get a hold of Mark Whitt sometime before the next MIO meeting.

I looked at all of the poster ideas from deviant art and here's what I think: The 4th design utilizes the colors we need; the flag's colors as well as the barvarian blue. Haley and I found some Oktoberfest decor at partycheap.com including tissue balls, plates, banners, as well as beaded Oktoberfest necklaces that we can hand out as party favors (like the MIO coozies from last year), that all include these colors. So maybe we want to keep this theme with the blue standing out? I also really like the colors in the second (less appropriate, but still AWESOME) poster. Haha.

Sorry guys for being MIA in MIO... LONG STORY. ANYHOW, I'm a graphic designer and have actually drawn up logo's for businesses, SO, if we want to create a logo for the fest just let me know some ideas and we can deffinatley work on something. I like the 4th logo on the list too... Let me know what everyone thinks!
